Happy FM Holds Cooking Competition On Mother’s Day

As the world prepares to celebrate mothers on Sunday May 8 , Accra-based radio station, Happy FM will be holding a cooking competition at Rawlings Park in Accra to mark this year’s mother’s day celebrations.The event dubbed ‘Happy FM Mother’s Day Special Treat’ will offer ten people the opportunity to cook their mothers’ favorite meals for them.

Out of the ten, the three lucky winners will walk home with prizes from Binatone, Leap Tomatoes Paste, Market Direct Limited, Onga seasoning.

According to the organizers, ‘Happy FM Mother’s Day Special Treat’ forms part of the annual Mother’s Day activities put together by the station.

Speaking about the event, Kwesi Sarpong Programs Manager at Happy FM stated that the program was part of the company’s line of activities to appreciate the efforts of mothers in the country.




In line wit that, this year’s celebration was in two fold with the first part being on-air giveaways to callers who phone in to answer questions on the station, sponsors as well as saying something special about their mothers. The second part started with listeners sending a text describing their mothers in one sentence.

Ten finalists who would be selected by an in-house panel based on the captivating text messages they sent about their mothers, will get the opportunity to cook their mothers’ favorite dish.




Head of Corporate Communications and Brands Marketing at Global Media Alliance Broadcast Company (GMABC), operators of Happy FM, Kwame Gyan stated that the ‘Happy FM Mother’s Day Special Treat’ was an initiative to get families to come together to celebrate their mothers and show them love in this special season.

“The finalists are also allowed to bring five people each -apart from the mother- to help them cook. The winners will get prizes from Binatone Appliance, Leap Tomatoes Paste, Market Direct Limited, Onga Seasoning. The rest of the contestants will receive consolation prices plus Global Cinema Tickets,” Kwame Gyan said.
