EL, ‘Artiste of The Year’ Bags 5 Awards at the 2016 #VGMAs
The 2016 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) came off last night (07-05-16) at the Accra International Conference Centre.
Ghana’s biggest music night merged music lovers with fashionistas and the whole entertainment factor was sheila under one roof.
The event which started early as planned by Charter House, the organizers of the prestigious awards scheme, was lighted up by spectacular performances from both top and unsung artiste who have just been unveiled to the music business.
Rapper Sarkodie although he was tipped to win the night’s biggest award couldn’t make it to the top but he managed to thrill fans with his stage craft and audibility with backing vocals from Akwaboah. They rocked the audience with song from his recently released ‘Mary’ album and finally end his act with a rap song.
Entering the stage and beginning the event with his ‘Koko’ song was rapper EL, who took home the nights biggest award, VGMA Artiste of The Year. The ‘ELOM’ album owner took home five awards making him the highest winner on the night. Bisa Kdei who was also tipped to win the ultimate award bagged home four awards, Sarkodie followed with three trophies whilst Stonebwoy, Kofi Kinaata and the legendary group VVIP took two awards respectively.
This year’s VGMAs was hosted by actor Chris Attoh and radio/TV personality cum actress, Naa Ashokor.
