Sleekwork Academy Set To Train Tech Talents in AfricaSleekwork, an online marketplace named Top 10 African Startups 2015 by Harvard Business School is launching Sleekwork Academy, an 8 week program that will provide skills training in app development and design to students, graduates and professionals looking to brush up or learn a new digital skillset.

The intensive program will run from 1st June through 5th August and will cover training from basic to advanced level with a customized lesson plan designed based on the individual skills and goals of each participant in the following competencies:

o Mobile App Development

o Web App Development

o User Interface Development

o Mockup Design

o WordPress Development

o E-commerce Development

Additionally, Sleekwork Academy participants will be mentored while they work on real client projects throughout the program and have their work featured to potential clients and media at the Academy’s finale showcase event in August.

“With many of the existing code schools and tech training programs, participants don’t get enough practical experience. In my experience, the only way to learn to build apps… is to build apps. A lot of apps, while receiving hands on mentorship to guide you along the way. And that’s what we’re offering at Sleekwork Academy, it’s not just theory but practical application and real work on real projects which ultimately is the best way to learn,” shares Richard Brandt, Sleekwork’s co-Founder who received a BSc in Mathematics from KNUST and completed a two-year tech entrepreneur training at the Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology (MEST).

The globally recognized Sleekwork team were selected as one of the Top 100 New Startups in the world for the Start-Up Chile Accelerator Program and Grant in Santiago, Chile, winners of a World Summit Youth Award (WSYA) and featured speakers at Tech4Africa Startup event, in Nairobi.

“Digital and mobile development skills have grown rapidly in importance over the past several years due to the proliferation of smartphones. But the changes have been so swift that skills and talented developers are not adequate for the market especially in Africa. The training we are providing at Sleekwork Academy is at an international quality level that is essential to impact the work force and meet the demand of the market,” adds Brandt who has overseen the completion of hundreds of digital and creative projects including websites, mobile apps and graphic design posted on Sleekwork to over 1400 qualified pool of freelancers registered on the platform.

Sleekwork Academy will offer flexible schedules with both online and offline course work and mentorship. Limited spaces are available. Interested candidates should sign up at sleekwork.com/codeschool or +233 (0)302544690 for enquiries.
