Gyan scores season’s first goal on return to action

Gyan scores season's first goal on return to actionAsamoah Gyan scored his first goal of the season in the Chinese Super League as Shanghai SIPG thumped Liaoning FC 4-0 on Sunday.

The Ghana captain latched onto a threaded pass from Wu Lei to score the fourth goal on 79 minutes.

He drifted past the goalkeeper before slotting home into a gaping net.

Gyan had been on the pitch for only two minutes after climbing off the pitch to replace Brazilian Elkeson de Oliveira Cardoso.

He was making a return to action after he picked up a thigh while on international duty two weeks ago into the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Mozambique.

Gyan sat out his side’s 1-1 draw with Chongqing in the Chinese top flight last week.
