David Bowie’s Trippy Video Game “The Nomad Soul” Is Free For The Next Week

The first game from David Cage and Quantic Dream (Heavy Rain, Beyond Two Souls), Omikron took place in the future on a distant planet and let you inhabit the bodies of numerous different characters. Sounds more than a little Bowie-esque, doesn’t it? Bowie played two different characters in Omikron, composed the game’s soundtrack and even had input into the story and game design.
Omikron: The Nomad Soul is pretty dated by today’s standards, but, like most things David Bowie, it’s a unique artifact that’s worth some exploration. Well, for the next week, you can do that free of charge, as Omikron‘s publisher Square-Enix is giving the game away as a tribute to the departed Bowie. Here’s how to get the game – head to the Square-Enix store, add the game to your basket (don’t mind that the game is still listed as $10), then enter the promo code “omikron” and you’ll get yourself a free Steam code.
Have some fun exploring this oddity of a game. I think I may revisit it myself this weekend.
