A peek into the supposed Wey Gey Hey ‘occult book’Reports of occult activities at the Wesley Girls Senior High School in Cape Coast in the Central Region, has triggered a huge debate especially on social media. 22 students from the school were according to the reports, caught practicing occultism; a story the Ghana Education Service has debunked.

The students were reportedly nabbed during a ceremony to induct new entrants into the group. However it has emerged that students were instead reading from a book to enhance their religious beliefs. Citi News has seen a copy of the book in question and has analysed its content.

The 60 paged book; “The Ministry of Angels and how to activate them” is authored by Rev. Vinny Max Bani. In the blurb, the Reverend describes himself as “a Bible teacher, a conference speaker, a dynamic leader, a youth pastor and most of all an apostle (special messenger) of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

He continues to define his role as a teacher of “the pure and unadulterated word of God in its simplicity, potency and truth with no dilly-dally.” He is also the founder and head of Christ Symbolic Union International (C.S.U). In the preface, he makes his readers believe “the ministry of angels is very real and never mythical or mysterious.”

Topics in the book Some of the topics treated in the book include “terms and descriptions of angels,” “classifications of angels,” “Are angels a higher order than believers or Christians,” “angels in the old testament,” “the ministry of angels to Christ,” “the ministry of angels to Christians,” the two main kinds of angels,” “how to activate angels” and “making it work (consistency).”

In the introduction he explains how important angels are quoting Deut.33:2, Ps.68:17; Acts 7:53; Gal.3:19 as his references. He also mentions other names given to angels in both the Old and New Testament.

Classification of angels the writer also classifies the angels by their nature, attributes and roles. The book mentions Michael as an “archangel,” and Gabriel as one of “the chief princes” he cites Dan 8:16; 9:21 as his reference. He also speaks of Satan and his angels describing him as a “fallen angel.”

Rev. Bani in his book tells of the continuous existence of angels and gives proofs for that. Still quoting from the Bible he mentions Heb.1:14 as evidence to the existence of angels.

Don’t worship angels but he was also quick to caution people from worshiping angels. He said “Do not worship angels, as the angels themselves warned John-Rev. 19:10; 22:8-9”. He also said that “do not heed new doctrines from them as Paul warned the Galatians-Gal.1:8.”

How to activate angels the book finally talks of how to activate angels and how to keep it that activation. It elaborates on a relationship with God, studying his word, submitting to authority, sacrificing, praying, practicing alms-giving and speaking in tongues amongst others. He concludes with what he titles “Salvation Call”; a form of prayer for readers who wish to “accept Jesus Christ into your life in order for you to be a member of God’s family.”

He adds a contact for those who want to “receive more information on how to grow and mature as Christians.”
