NPP performed poorly in 2017 – Asiedu Nketia

NPP performed poorly in 2017 – Asiedu NketiaThe General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has said the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government performed poorly in 2017.

According to him, there were several acts of corruption, lawlessness and attacks on state institutions by NPP activists as well as economic hardships on Ghanaians.

Speaking on the performance of the Akufo-Addo-led government one year on, Mr Nketia told Obeng Mensah, sit-in host of the Ghana Yensom on Accra 100.5FM on Thursday, January 4 that: “ The NPP has really redefined politics in Ghana.

They are really teaching us ‘how to promise the people, how to fail the people, and how to deceive them to believe that the promises have been fulfilled'”.

“They told us they were going to do free SHS education across board but now what are we seeing? The same format the NDC administration did is what they are adopting.

“Over the past one year under this government, there has been corruption upon corruption right at the seat of government to other government agencies. There has been lawlessness, attacks on state institutions by NPP activists and several others and so for me, last year was a very bad year for Ghanaians.”

Meanwhile, Deputy General Secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Obiri Boahen, has defended the performance of the government over the past one year. He told Class News that: “Honestly speaking, NPP has performed creditably well, NPP has done well. If you remove the political spectacle and you really want to be honest and sincere to yourself, you will realise that NPP has performed creditably well just within a matter of one year.

“So I disagree entirely with those who hold the view that nothing has changed. I believe that as human beings, once the party is human organised, human-oriented, human controlled, eventually our people will be expecting that we should live up to a 100 percent but depending on the angle you are looking at the achievements, in all honesty, the party has done well.”
