American singer, Wyclef Jean is delighted to be working with two of the most sensational West African music connects.
Nico and Vinz are an African-Norwegian singing and songwriting duo composed of Kahouly Nicolay “Nico” Sereba from Holmlia, Oslo and Vincent “Vinz” Dery from Lambertseter, Oslo.
The biggest misconception about Nico & Vinz, the Scandinavian duo who scored an unlikely summer hit with their upbeat “I’m I Wrong” off their debut album “Black Star Elephant” was “People think that we’re white,” says an amused Vincent “Vinz” Dery.
Nico and Vinz followed up with an EP ‘Cornerstone’ and several tours across the globe last year.
The pulse of good music throbs powerfully through their Afro-Norwegian veins. These exciting new songwriters of Ivorian and Ghanian backgrounds respectively have come together fusing their varied eclectic influences—from pop to reggae, West African dance to hip hop, rock to soul—to create an engaging sound featuring soul-stirring messages that claim high hopes for the future.
“We are Norwegian and African,” Vinz says, “It is important for us to inspire. We sing about things we’ve been going through and about finding ourselves. To us it’s important to have a message, and the goal for us is to inspire people to find happiness.”
Adding to their success stories, the duo wants to “Tell you guys, they had the dopest session with Wyclef yesterday. Fire coming soon!”
Another good move to raise their standards musically. Nico and Vinz adds a collaboration with Wyclef Jean to their records.
Wyclef who’s also happy with the move posted on Instagram:
“Limitations live only in our minds. But if we use our imaginations, our possibilities become limitless” #JammiePaolinetti
“Incredibly blessed to be working with such talented young minds in and out of the studio” #MotivationMonday
