The era of compilations back in the days gave Ghanaians some of the best collaborations in the music industry. We saw the likes of emerging artists like Sarkodie, Edem, and others who kept the momentum in the music sector. Too many known faces are now hidden because the crop of music has taken a different turn.
Okra Tom Dawidi is one of the few good rappers the industry can talk about, known for his dynamism in rap, hence earned his popular hit song ‘Ayekoo’ which featured Obrafour and Tinny. After his long silence, Okra Tom Dawidi has broken his silence for the first time in an interview not a song like he did on ‘Winner For Life’ which was an apology song to his fans for his silence.
It seems Okra is not happy about many things but he insists “this is not the right time for a lengthy talk, he’s surviving – at least.”
Speaking in an interview with Sammy Flex on Pluzz FM he cleared the rumours that he was ever signed by Mad Time front man, Kwaw Kese and also went on to touch on few things we didn’t know.
“Kwaw Kese didn’t officially sign me as many claims”
“We had a promotional deal and at point, I felt it wasn’t going to work because he was also an artist just like me trying to work himself up there”
“There was some money transaction that was supposed to be made, but then, I’ll leave the whole story for the right time”
Touching on his music career he said:
“I haven’t stopped music; I’m just working on something, not music inclined now”
“But I do record, I have over 50 recorded with top producers and I have songs that will be released when the time is right” “I do record everyday.”
Touching on why he has been out of sight in the music industry Okra said:
“This life has taught me a lot”
“I don’t have friends; the music industry has made me realize a lot hence the need to stay away and do what I think is right for me”
“I’m still in Ghana and when the time is right, I’ll come with the full Okra Tom Dawidi story” he concluded.
