Former Asante Kotoko Chief Executive Officer Herbert Mensah is contemplating the decision to run for the seat of President of the Ghana Football Association Citi Sports sources can confirm.
The veteran football administrator and current President of the Ghana Rugby Federation is weighing his options as incumbent President of the GFA Kwesi Nyantakyi enters the final two years of his third tenure.
‘Indeed, I have no plans to entrench myself in the position as it is a privileged post; at a point, I would have to leave and there is no better time to do so than when the applaud is very loud,”
”I don’t think I’m the only person capable of leading Ghana football. I can do so much but not everything. Besides, I think we all must take a page from the wind of change blowing in FIFA on reforms which among things place a limit on the term of president.”
For now, Mr Mensah is keeping his cards close to his chest but could make more concrete moves based on the happenings of the next few months.
Key individuals believe that he has given off his best and must now make way since he has become a target for dragging the name of the FA in the mud.
His popularity among the Regional Federations, however, is at an all-time high.
