The Former Presidential Candidate of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Hassan Ayariga, has formed a political party to contest in the 2016 Presidential race.
He formed the breakaway party, All People’s Congress (APC), after his defeat in the PNC’s presidential primary held in the Upper West regional capital, Wa.
Mr Ayariga was unseated by Dr Edward Mahama at the December 12 Congress -December 2015 in Wa.
Meanwhile, Mr Ayariga has already picked up certification forms from the electoral commission and established offices in 170 districts across the country.
Electoral Commission is expected to present a provisional license to his new political party; the All Peoples Party (APC) this week. The APC, founded by the Hassan Ayariga, is expected to contest the November general elections.
This brings to 26, the total number of political parties licensed by the Electoral Commission. The latest development comes on the back of a PNC announcement that any members who had signed documents for the formation of Ayariga’s new party should renounce their decision.
The APC, according to party sources, will officially be launched this Friday, January 29.
