Ghana at 2017 BET Awards: 4 Things To Know Before Sunday June 25With just two days away from the 2017 BET Awards here are some of the biggest names in the industry that will gather under the roof at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday June 25 to celebrate achievements and honor African Americans and other minorities in television, film, music, sports and other fields of entertainment.

The 2017 BET Awards will be hosted by actress and comedian Leslie Jones—who is known for roles such as Ghostbusters, Trainwreck and her hilarious commentary of the 2016 Summer Olympics, and the event will also see legendary R&B group New Edition honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Chance The Rapper, who’s nominated for more than his fair share of awards at the show, will be presented with the Humanitarian Award for all of his philanthropy and activism over the last few years.

Aside the many attendees, Sunday’s big event will also more than 20 musicians hit the stage to perform throughout the show. Artists including: Bruno Mars, Mary J. Blige, A$AP Rocky, French Montana, Gucci Mane, Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, Migos, Post Malone, Future, Tamar Braxton, Trey Songz, DJ Khaled, Big Sean and more.

Over the last year, Gucci’s been the hardest working man in hip-hop, while SZA’s just released a critically acclaimed major label debut (CTRL). Kid for the future, Khalid’s American Teen has already established him as one of the world’s top up-and-coming talents in music.

On who got nominated this year, Queen  Beyoncé leads the pack with seven nods followed by Bruno Mars who has five. Chance the Rapper and Migos also both received four nominations.  In the acting category, Viola Davis, Taraji P. Henson, Gabrielle Union, Issa Rae and Janelle Monáe are going head-to-head in the Best Actress category, while Denzel Washington, Donald Glover, Bryshere Y. Gray, Mahershala Ali and Omari Hardwick are up for Best Actor.

For a list of all the winners on the night, we will have to look up to the BET’s Voting Academy, which is comprised of entertainment professionals and fans. They will vote across all 19 categories based upon music, film and television releases between April 1, 2016 and March 31, 2017.
