Freemasons respectfully participate in the ceremonies. In doing so, Freemasons are being merely true to their obligations in and tenets of the Order. Principal among these are that each Mason must of a necessity believe in God, rely on Him in all his worthy undertakings and aspire to attain His presence at the conclusion of this earthly sojourn.
Freemasons describe their society as a beautiful system of morality, veiled in allegory and illustrated by symbols.
But these symbols including a compass and an eye seem to have spawned lots of conspiracy theories.
In fact, it’s long been seen as a secret society or cult, a group of men who have sold their souls to the devil and the Ghana chapter of the society hopes to change these perceptions.
To understand what Freemason is and its primary aim, former president Kuffour who was appointed Senior Grand Warden by the Grand Master, His Royal Highness, The Duke of Kent, simply described the society as a charitable one.
Freemasonry is one of Ghana’s largest organization that has no affiliations with either religion or politics. They are involved in major charitable organizations across Ghana.
They are a well-funded organization depicted by their members who are seen as wealthy in society.
The Freemason members in Ghana are picked from different lines of work. Shockingly, there are even Freemason pastors in Ghana.
Their membership in Ghana has been skyrocketing in the past years as many freemason musicians in Ghana are coming out of the closet. Sarkodie, Shatta Wale, Ebony, Stonebwoy, among others have all been linked to the society.
While the success of Freemason Ghana has been attributed to the rise of influential and successful leaders who are believed to be the founding members of the organization, names such as Otumfuo Osei Tutu 11, Henry Martey Newman, Dr. Alex Tweneboah, Otwasuom Osei Nyampong VI and the late K.B Asante have all been linked to be good examples of the society.
Many people often compare freemasonry to Illuminati. But the two are different things altogether. For example, Dr. Alex Tweneboah, former president of Ghana Real Estate Developers was alleged to have been kicked out of the Brotherhood after a certain incidence that led to his arrest. He was caught in a fraud case with the police and arrested. This supposedly angered the brotherhood since it was against their principles and he had to be kicked out.
Illuminati is a satanic cult while Freemasonry is an organization with no religious affiliations. Their organization has made headlines in the local news especially after the building of the Ghana Freemason Hall. They also established a freemason lodge in Ghana for their members.
Judging by their ever-growing membership, we can say they are here to stay. Freemason Ghana members have spread over the years into the churches, entertainment industry and even the Government of Ghana has been compromised.
Meanwhile, Self-proclamation of its members can be optional depending on the members themselves. As a way to pay their last respect to their comrade, the funeral ceremony for late senior citizen and retired diplomat Kwaku Baprui Asante, popularly known as K.B. Asante, which was held in a solemn event at the forecourt of the today was well represented by some of the leaders from Ghana Freemason.
Vincent Cyril Richard Arthur Charles (V.C.R.A.C) Crabbe, a retired supreme court judge of Ghana and a former Professor of Law was among the Freemason delegation who represented at the funeral of K.B Asante.
