Ex Actors Guild President Nii Odoi Mensah is Dead
The astute actor had kept his condition private for several months until his doctors declared both his kidneys incapable of performing their key functions.
Ex-Ghana Actors Guild president Nii Odoi Mensah is dead.
He died in China while undergoing Kidney treatment, producer Socrates Safo has confirmed.
His death follows that of the actors guild president, Eddie Coffie who died late last year.
Last year (Jan 21, 2015), Nii Odoi Mensah needed $300 weekly to stay live and after several discussions, Ghanaian actress Juliet Ibrahim cried to the entertainment industry to support the actor as he battles kidney failure and bills.
“He has been going on with this thing for a while and he kept it to himself until recently when he realised that the cross was too much for him to carry so he reached out to Vivian Achor the current President of the Ghana Actors’ Guild and they both spoke to me about it and I decided to come on board” She said.
Juliet, although she was not able to raise a lot of money for the talented “role model”, she managed a donation from some GHC5000 raised from a charity event she held in Accra late last year.
“They were five in a group and I shared the money I raised among five of them that included Nii Odoi.”
She added, “he is a very strong man, that’s one thing I’m very proud of.”
To stay alive, Nii Odoi Mensah had to spend $300 weekly on dialysis.
