Arsenal to give extra transfer funds for Arsene Wenger to sign Alexandre Lacazette and Shkodran Mustafi
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will be given whatever transfer funds it takes it land his main targets Alexandre Lacazette and Shkodran Mustafi this summer.
The Gunners look in desperate need of additions in defence and attack before the transfer window shuts, with Wenger only bringing in midfielder Granit Xhaka as a serious option for his first-team so far this summer.
Arsenal are rumoured to be in talks over Valencia defender Mustafi as cover for the injured Per Mertesacker, while Lyon have rejected their first offer for Lacazette, though another bid is expected.
According to The Times, Wenger will be given full financial support to get these deals over the line, with the club perhaps finally recognising the need to spend big to keep up with their rivals.
Arsenal finished second to Leicester City in the Premier League last season, but are set to be up against much-improved Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City sides in 2016/17 after busy summers at all three clubs.
